To improve discipline and ensure a focused learning environment, the Punjab government has banned the use of mobile phones in government schools. The School Education Department has also issued a comprehensive 20-point guideline aimed at enhancing transparency and creating a structured teaching system.
New Rules for Teachers and Students
According to the guidelines, teachers, students, and non-teaching staff are required to hand over their mobile phones to the head teacher during school hours. This measure ensures uninterrupted focus on educational activities. Additionally, teachers and staff members must follow a formal dress code, which includes wearing a dress coat, closed shoes, and name tags. Students are also required to adhere to a proper uniform, including a navy blue jersey specified by the department.

Focus on Discipline and Monitoring
To maintain discipline, schools will conduct daily checks on students’ personal grooming, including their nails and haircuts. Teachers must wear watches, maintain attendance records, and utilize whiteboards to display the subject being taught and key points of the lesson. A board showing school hours will be placed at the main gate to maintain transparency, while motivational banners will be displayed across the school premises to create a positive and encouraging environment.
These measures reflect the government’s commitment to fostering a disciplined and productive atmosphere in schools.
