The Director General (DG) of NADRA, Zulfiqar Ahmed, has been dismissed from his position following allegations of holding a fake MBA degree. The dismissal comes after an inquiry conducted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) revealed significant discrepancies in his academic qualifications.
Key Findings from the Inquiry
- Fake MBA Degree: The MBA degree in question was allegedly issued by an American university. However, it was discovered that the university’s president, whose name appeared on the degree, did not exist.
- BBA Degree Discrepancies: Further investigation revealed inconsistencies in his BBA degree. At the time the degree was issued, the college’s name differed from what was mentioned in the credentials.
Action Taken by NADRA
NADRA initiated the inquiry into Zulfiqar Ahmed’s academic records after concerns were raised about their authenticity. Following the investigation:
- A show-cause notice was issued to the DG, requiring him to clarify the discrepancies.
- His failure to provide satisfactory answers to the allegations led to his termination.

Higher Education Commission’s Role
The HEC played a critical role in verifying the legitimacy of the degrees. Their findings confirmed the fabricated nature of the MBA degree and highlighted irregularities in the BBA qualification.
This incident has raised questions about the verification processes in place for hiring individuals in high-ranking positions within government organizations. The termination serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and due diligence in employment processes.
