Punjab Government Plans to Extend Metro Bus Service: Connecting Lahore to Kasur

The Punjab government has announced ambitious plans to extend the Green Line Metro Bus service from Lahore to Kasur, a move aimed at improving public transportation and boosting connectivity for residents in the region. This development is expected to bring a significant transformation to the daily commute, fostering economic and social benefits.

Feasibility Study Underway for Metro Expansion

Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has directed the initiation of a feasibility study to evaluate the practicality and cost-effectiveness of extending the metro bus route from Gajumata in Lahore to Kasur City. This study will provide a comprehensive analysis of the technical and financial requirements of the project.

The Punjab Transport Department, tasked with spearheading this project, is already in action. The study’s findings will help policymakers understand the scope of the extension, enabling them to allocate resources efficiently.

Key Objectives of the Metro Extension

  1. Enhancing Connectivity: The extended route will provide residents of Kasur with direct access to Lahore’s established metro network, reducing travel time and improving accessibility.
  2. Reducing Traffic Congestion: A reliable metro bus system will help ease road congestion by encouraging public transport over private vehicle use.
  3. Economic Upliftment: Better transport links often stimulate local economies, creating job opportunities and facilitating trade and commerce between connected regions.

Benefits to Kasur Residents

  1. Its very very good initiative… Both cities will get benefit from the project in sha Allah. ✨
My suggestion is, kindly make it elevated road, above the ground. As is the Rawalpindi metro…..1… In this way ground will be spared for further extension of Lhr _Kasur road in the future.
2nd many expences will be saved off, which will be required for building overhead bridges/ fly over, /passes etc…
May Allah make it easy for everyone. And make it prosperous & beneficial for Govt & Awaam… Aameen 💕
