Free Medicine Delivery: A Lifeline for Patients
The newly launched home delivery service aims to address one of the most critical barriers in healthcare: accessibility. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized her vision of a Punjab where no patient suffers due to a lack of medicine.
She personally visited the narrow streets of underserved areas to deliver medicines to patients’ homes. This hands-on approach demonstrated her commitment to ensuring that chronic disease patients, among others, have consistent access to high-quality medicines. Furthermore, efforts to maintain stringent quality standards, including drug testing, were highlighted as a key focus of the program.
32 Field Hospitals Established for Accessible Healthcare
In addition to the medicine delivery service, 32 field hospitals have been made functional across Punjab. These facilities aim to provide comprehensive medical care to communities far from urban centers. Each hospital is equipped with essential services such as:
- Ultrasound
- X-rays
- Laboratory tests
- On-site pharmacies
Staff training programs for doctors and nurses are being implemented to ensure the highest standard of care. These field hospitals eliminate the need for long, often costly, travel to urban medical centers, making quality healthcare a reality for thousands.

Clinic on Wheels: Healthcare at Your Doorstep
Another innovative initiative is the “Clinic on Wheels” project. This mobile healthcare solution is designed to serve remote areas by offering services like mother-and-child care, diagnostic tests, and treatment for common ailments. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the 200 mobile clinics are expected to drastically improve healthcare outcomes in rural Punjab.
Air Ambulance Services for Remote Regions
Recognizing the unique challenges faced by people in hilly and hard-to-reach areas, Ms. Nawaz Sharif announced the launch of an air ambulance service. This service ensures that patients in emergencies receive immediate medical attention, bridging the gap between isolated communities and essential healthcare.
The air ambulances are designed to provide first aid and stabilize patients while en route to hospitals, saving countless lives that would otherwise be lost due to delayed treatment.
