In a recent directive aimed at improving governance and the quality of life in Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed district administrations to enhance the monitoring of development projects, cleanliness, and pricing of essential commodities. With a vision for greener and more organized cities, she emphasized urban beautification, improved infrastructure, and proactive measures for public welfare.
Urban Beautification and Green Initiatives
The CM has prioritized the aesthetic transformation of urban spaces across Punjab. She directed the district administrations to develop green belts around underpasses and overhead bridges in all major cities. This move aims to blend functionality with beauty, ensuring a pleasant environment for residents and visitors alike.
Additionally, the CM emphasized the need for the beautification of bridges and underpasses, a project expected to add a modern touch to the province’s infrastructure. The installation of cat’s eyes along zebra crossings, particularly in front of educational institutions, has also been mandated to ensure safety and visibility.
Addressing Infrastructure and Public Safety
To tackle recurring urban issues, the CM ordered the placement of plastic covers on manholes, ensuring pedestrian safety and reducing accidents. Encroachments, a perennial problem in urban planning, are to be removed on a permanent basis to free up public spaces and facilitate smoother traffic flow. She also directed authorities to repair potholes, ensuring well-maintained roads that reflect effective governance.
Murree, a prominent tourist destination, has not been overlooked. The CM emphasized the importance of continuously cleaning the city’s drains and installing welcoming signboards at its entrances to enhance the tourist experience.
Promoting Inclusive Public Spaces
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted the significance of model cart markets, suggesting an increase in their number across big cities. These markets are expected to provide affordable shopping options and reduce the burden of inflation on citizens.

Advocating for Social Solidarity
On International Day of Human Solidarity, the CM emphasized the importance of compassion, equality, and unity in building a peaceful and progressive society. She reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to humanitarian service, stating that all policies aim to uplift the weaker sections of society. Through initiatives promoting social justice, brotherhood, and inclusivity, the administration seeks to create equal opportunities for every citizen.
